Test Your Drinking Water

Friday, June 21, 2024 (9:00 AM - 3:00 PM) (CDT)

Description

CROSSLAKE — Test your drinking water from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, June 21, at Crosslake City Hall at 13888 Daggett Bay Road.

Private wells should be tested for nitrate every other year. Nitrate occurs naturally and at safe and healthy levels in some foods (such as spinach and carrots) and comes from natural processes, such as plant decay.  High levels of nitrate in water can be a result of runoff or leakage from fertilized soil, wastewater, landfills, animal feedlots, septic systems or urban drainage.

Bring a fresh water sample (taken within one day of analysis). To take a sample, run the cold tap for 5-10 minutes and then collect about one cup of water in a plastic baggie (double bag) or clean jar. Keep the water cool until arrival.

This service is provided complimentary by Crow Wing County Soil & Water Conservation District.  For more information call 218-828-6197 or email chris@cwswcd.org
