Grandpa’s Run for the Walleye has become one of the signature events of the Crosslake 4th of July Celebration. Established 29 years ago in memory of Grandpa Boots Buthman, the race is traditionally held on the morning   before the evening fireworks festivities.

Participants may pick up race packets and register from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, July 3, at the Crosslake Community Center. Race-day registration will also be available from 7:00 to 8:00 a.m.

The event takes place at the Crosslake Community Center and features:

• 10K Run – 8:15 a.m.
• 5K Run/Walk – 8:30 a.m.
• 5K and 10K Awards Ceremony – 9:30 a.m.
• Kids Sunfish Dash – 9:45 a.m.

Strollers and leashed dogs are welcome in the 5K event.

The race is sponsored by the Whitefish Area Property Owners Association (WAPOA). Proceeds from the event support fish habitat improvement projects throughout the Whitefish Chain of Lakes.
