Inkle Loom Class at Charboneau Studios

Saturday, December 6, 2025 (9:30 AM - 4:00 PM) (CST)

Description

Step into the world of inkle weaving, a meditative, portable form of textile creation. In this beginner-friendly class you will explore inkle weaving, a technique that uses tablets (or cards) instead of heddles to create narrow, sturdy fabric with striking patterns. The word “inkle” comes from the Old English term that refers to a type of narrow linen tape or ribbon used for binding and decorative accents. Today, inkle looms paired with tablets or cards offer a simple way to weave intricate bands, straps, bookmarks, and anything else you can think of! Whether you are a fiber artist looking to expand your toolkit or a curious beginner drawn to the magic of thread and weaving, this class offers:

  • A gentle introduction to inkle loom weaving showing how an Inkle Loom works
  • How to warp and turn the cards to create patterns
  • How to read tablet patterns
  • Hands-on guidance through weaving your first band
  • Creative inspiration for using your woven pieces in everyday life

No prior weaving experience required. All materials provided, including yarn, looms, and tablets for use during class. You will leave with a finished piece, a new skill, and the quiet joy of weaving something by hand.

This class will be hosted inside my home in Crosslake as our new home studio will not be fully ready to host workshops yet.

I will be serving lunch onsite. You are welcome to bring a box lunch if you would like instead.

Price: $100

Only 4 spots available for this class

Location: 13027 Happy Trail, Crosslake, MN  (our new location for Charboneau Studios)

This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Five Wings Art Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
