Responsible to Camp & Program Director- The Outdoor Recreation Specialist role at Confidence Learning Center is a multi-faceted year around position.  This is a salary-based position (TBD) based on 2080 hours per year.  Benefits after 90 days include paid vacation, sick and holiday time as outlined in the employee manual.  An insurance stipend (TBD) may be provided in addition to salary for employee to secure individual health care coverage.  Participation in employer match (3%) 401K available beginning Jan 1 following full time employment. 

Position Core: (estimated time 60%) Busiest times for hands on programming are Mid Jan – March and May to October. 

The primary role of the Outdoor Recreation Specialist is to provide exceptional leadership in facilitating a wide range of outdoor and environmental education activities for families and visiting groups including persons of all ages and abilities with cognitive and or developmental disabilities.  Rotating schedule to include weekdays, weekends, early evenings and non-religious Holidays. 

Role Specific Responsibilities Include: (estimated time 20%)

-Recreation equipment inventory and maintenance management 

-Facilitate transition of seasonal recreation activities / equipment 

-Responsible for use and overall risk management of Confidence Course / Zip Line

-Training of Seasonal Staff / Interns / Volunteers in proper use and maintenance of recreational equipment and facilities

 Additional Responsibilities include: (estimated time 20%): 

- Routine Animal care

-Public sharing of Confidence Learning Center mission through assisting with fundraising events, facility tours and fostering relationships with community partners

-Routine up keep of general facilities, group cabins, and activity areas

- Greeting and checking in of assigned groups

-Assisting and mentoring of Seasonal Staff / Interns and Volunteers

- Assisting with other departments including maintenance as needed

- Record keeping, research, development and adaptations of new and existing activities

- Other tasks as assigned by Camp Director 

Required: (Current or ability to re-new / gain within 120 days of employment with employer support) 

-Red Cross or equivalent First Aid, Adult & Pediatric CPR / AED, Lifeguard Certifications

-ACCT or Equivalent Challenge Course Manager Certification

-Proficiency in Microsoft Applications Satisfactory Annual County, State and National Background Reviews.
